WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?

There are many different types of dermal fillers.  The most popular types used are made from hyaluronic acid (HA).  Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural component of the skin which in combination with collagen and elastin, helps keep the skin looking smooth, hydrated and youthful.  As we age, we lose HA from our skin and this contributes to the formation of lines and wrinkles as well as loss of volume.

Injecting dermal fillers can plump up the skin and restore lost volume.

They can also be used to restore volume and enhance to areas such as the cheeks, jowls, temples, chin, nose, and lips.

Does the procedure hurt?

At 126Skin, we use fillers that contain lidocaine which is a local anaesthetic that numbs the area reducing pain and discomfort. We also apply a numbing cream on the skin before to procedure which further minimises any pain.

How long will the results last for?

Results can last anywhere from 4-18months depending on the area being treated and the type of filler injected.

You should be gentle with the area that has been treated and you should not use any make up on the area for at least 6 hours. You may use cold-packs to help reduce any pain and swelling in the first 48 hours after the procedure. You may also take simple over the counter pain killers to minimise any pain or discomfort. We recommend that you avoid any hot saunas, steam rooms, or jacuzzis for the first 2 weeks.
